PFA PFDA

PFA - Progressive Failure Dynamic Analysis (PFA_PFDA)

View Product Datasheet (PDF)

Product Highlights:

·         Performs progressive failure analysis of composite structures using an explicit transient dynamic algorithm, integrating GENOA with the LS-DYNA software. Complicated behavior of composite structures, which include large deformation and extensive material degradation, can be accurately predicted with this simulation module.

·         Effective simulation of complete low or high speed impact events, including damage initiation, damage propagation and final collapse of a composite structure.

·         Damage in composite laminates at each time interval is simulated at micro level using advanced micro-mechanics.  A time marching algorithm progressively updates the degraded damaged properties until the collapse of a structure.

·         Tracking material degradation at the fiber/matrix level enables accurate simulation of the global response of a composite structure.

·         Multiple element types, including Belytschko-Tsai shell, Hughes-Liu shell, Belytschko-Leviathan shell, Belytschko-Wong-Chiang shell and solid elements, are implemented in GENOA-PFDA.

Applications/Benefits:

·         Low and high speed impact analysis.

·         Automobile crashworthiness simulation.

·         Simulation of complicated nonlinear quasi-static response of advanced composite structures which undergo large material deformations and structural displacements taking into consideration contact boundary conditions.
